| What is the PTO? Riverside PTO is an essential organization governed by an elected board. The board officers and members are comprised of devoted parents that are committed to keeping everyone informed, encouraging parental involvement and increasing our children’s enthusiasm for school through fun activities and events which will enhance our school spirit. We are very active and have a strong alliance with teachers, parents, and administration. We have an open door policy and value everyone’ s input as it relates to all of our children. What does the PTO do? Today more than ever, we are challenged to provide the best possible education for our students with smaller budgets and resources. This is one of the areas Riverside PTO plays an integral role. We sponsor a multitude of activities; plan fundraisers, host guest speakers, have family nights, and have book fairs and other events. Through all these special activities, all the monies received go directly back into our school. Some of the funds are allocated to assist paying for our wonderful school nurse and some of the cafeteria assistants, while other funds are allocated to assist teachers with school supplies and books to read for our children. We purchase items for the school and donate money to special causes. Also, Teacher appreciation and other special gifts are purchased through out the year. Who can join and what can I do? Everyone is invited to join…parents, grandparents, and guardians. There is no pressure to volunteer what-so-ever. Whether you want to help out for one hour or five hours, or want to work at one of our special events or help out in a classroom…it is totally up to you. Whatever time or talent you can donate will be so appreciated. If you are interested in volunteering, please consider joining the PTO, the rewards you will receive are…priceless! How do I become a volunteer? The first step to becoming one of our valued volunteers is to go online to www.getinvolvedineducation.com to complete a volunteer application. Registering online is simple and easy to do. It will take a few weeks for your registration to be processed. You must always enter the school through the front office and until you receive your 'official' volunteer badge, please be prepared to show an official photo id such as a Driver’s License, FL State ID Card or current passport. Riverside has a tracking system known as STAR (Security Track and Response). This system that tracks all visitors and volunteers as well as students that are arriving late and/or leaving early. This screening system helps create a safe and secure environment for all our students. We are All dedicated to achieve the same goals for our children…All striving to make Riverside the best school in Broward County! Together, we will make a difference…one child at a time!! |
